Guest Lecture: Renewable Energy in Rwanda
Industry expert talk on the growth of renewables in East Africa.
Forever Tvet Institute's guest lecture series continues with a talk on renewable energy development across Rwanda and the wider East African region. The speaker for this session is a senior engineer with direct experience in the planning, installation, and commissioning of large-scale solar projects in Rwanda.
The lecture will cover the current state of Rwanda's energy mix, the country's national targets for renewable capacity expansion, and what the growth trajectory means for the demand for qualified TVET graduates in the electricity and solar sectors. Students will gain insight into the scale and pace of change in an industry they may enter within months of graduating.
A substantial portion of the session is dedicated to the career dimension. The speaker will discuss the specific technical skills that employers are actively looking for, how salaries in the sector have evolved over the past five years, and the pathways available to graduates who want to advance from installation roles into supervisory or design positions.
The session is open to the public, and prospective students interested in the Electrical Technology programme are encouraged to attend. Current students from all programmes are welcome. The lecture runs for approximately 60 minutes, followed by a 20-minute open Q&A.
No registration is required for this event. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Lecture Hall accommodates up to 80 attendees. For groups of five or more, please email events@forevertvet.rw in advance so adequate seating can be arranged.
